This past Saturday, Lisa P. and I packed up the truck with 2 dogs, a cat, a new banner, t-shirts galore and a number of other accouterments to spice up CAWL’s first booth at the Denver Pet Expo held at Denver Merchandise Mart. CAWL along with nearly 200 other pet related exhibitors spent Saturday adopting homeless pets, selling pet related merchandise, discussing services and charitable programs, and sharing stories with the pet-loving attendees.

The Expo coordinators brought in pet behavior experts, fly-ball exhibitions, and organized pet-trick and pet-costume contests for the thousands of folks looking to spend a little quality time with their pets. The event also offered discounted vaccinations, microchipping,
heartworm & flea preventatives as well as free nail trims for the four-legged participants.

CAWL volunteers happily found homes for Music, a darling little mixed breed puppy rescued from the Indian Reservations, and for Cowboy a handsome, young, male tabby cat. We also enjoyed talking with potential volunteers about our foster programs, spay/neuter clinics, and adoption events.

All in all, the Denver Pet Expo was a great event. Next stop PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Weekend Sept 9-11.
